Activities In Tenby
Thursday, 6 December 2007
The first place to mention for activities in the Tenby area is an area slightly North of Tenby and was voted as Wales' Top Day Out in 2005 by the Wales Tourist Board. I am talking about Folly Farm, an attraction which combines a zoo with a traditional funfair, a farm and an adventure play park. The zoo contains more than 200 different animals, with more on the way, and visitors can attend feeding time demonstrations for some of the more interesting creatures. The fairground contains some vintage rides for anyone wanting a glimpse of a bygone era, and some retro thrills. Some noteworthy rides include a Golden Gallopers from 1922, chair-o-planes and the giant outdoor Helter Skelter. The farm allows visitors to handle some of the smaller animals and even bottle feed the baby ones. Finally the adventure play park comprises of both indoor and outdoor activities, which are well worth the trip out of Tenby.
A little bit closer to Tenby itself is another fantastic activities centre called Heatherton Country Park. There are a wide range of things to do here, including archery, bumper boats, baseball, go karting, golfing, horse riding, laser clay pigeon shooting, paintball, pistol firing, robot wars, indoor bowling, maze and a play area. So there's almost bound to be something you and your family will be able to enjoy here.
Throughout your stay in Tenby you could also pay a visit to the Silent World Aquarium and Reptile Collection. Housed inside a 19th Century chapel house close to the North Beach, this fascinating place is incredibly unique. Certainly I don't know of any other aquarium or reptile collection kept inside a chapel.!
